Witness appeal following serious injury fail to stop collision in Wavertree

Officers from our Roads Policing Unit are appealing for witnesses to a serious injury fail to stop RTC in Wavertree in late July.

At 4.45pm on Tuesday 30 July, emergency services were called to Grant Avenue at the junction with Pagefield Road to reports of a collision between a blue Honda Blackbird motorbike and a silver car, not further described. It is believed that the car turned right across the front of the motorbike, leading to the rider being knocked off.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, comprising broken ribs and concussion.

The car failed to stop at the scene and CCTV and witness enquiries have so far proved negative.

Constable Jess Lewin from the Roads Policing Unit said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who saw this collision and potentially has vehicle dashcam, so we can establish exactly what happened and identify the car and driver involved. The rider sustained serious injuries and it is despicable that someone could be involved in such an incident and drive away.

“We will act on all information provided to find those responsible and take the appropriate action, so if you know anything or were in the area around this time, please come forward.”

Anyone with information can contact @MerPolCC, call 101 with reference 19100419609 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
