Witness appeal following fail to stop collision involving electric pedal cycle in Birkenhead

Officers from our Roads Policing Unit are appealing for witnesses following a fail to stop road traffic collision in Birkenhead in the early hours of yesterday morning, Monday 12 August.

At around 12:05am, officers were called to Upton Road at the junction with Bidston Road to reports of a collision between a black electric pedal cycle and a black Ford Focus, which caused the car to swerve off the road. The driver was taken to hospital and required treatment to minor injuries to his head and arm.

The rider and passenger of the bicycle made off from the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace them.

Constable Craig Williams from the Matrix Roads Policing Unit said: "We want to identify those on the bike as a matter of urgency, to ensure that they are safe and well and receive the appropriate medical treatment. If you know who was involved, please do the right thing and let us know.

“I also want to urge anyone who witnessed this incident or has home CCTV or dashcam and captured this collision to get in touch, so we can establish the circumstances and take the necessary action.”
