Weapons and stolen property recovered during Op Target day of action in Sefton

Weapons and stolen property was recovered during a day of action in Sefton yesterday, Wednesday 31st July.

Our Operation Target offices carried out open land searches were carried out at Rimrose Valley Park, near the Pendle estate, Victoria Park in Crosby, Simonswood Lane and South Park in Bootle.

During the search of Victoria Park, Crosby a large sheathed machete was found and at South Park several weapons were recovered including a suspected Taser, a golf club and four knives. (pictured below)

The North West Underwater search team carried out an intelligence led search of the canal nearby Cookson’s Bridge in company with Matrix officers who searched the canal path.

During the course of the search, three mobile phones were recovered, an Audi car key, a cash register stolen in a pub robbery and also a pillow case containing property identified as stolen from a burglary in April 2019.

Roads policing officers issued 12 notices for motoring offences including speeding as well as carrying out drug and breath tests and five warrants were carried out at properties in the Bootle area as well as stop searches and stop checks.

There was also a community clean up in conjunction with Sefton Council, Sefton Green spaces and the Canal and River Trust and a community letter drop to numerous properties in Bootle.

A dispersal order remains in place in the Bootle area until 5pm tonight, Thursday 1st August.

Sefton Community Policing Superintendent Graeme Robson said: “We will continue to carry out days of action like this as long as we believe they are beneficial to our communities.

“I hope that people feel reassured by seeing our presence and that our continued work has the effect of disrupting the criminal minority.

“It’s important to us that members of our communities feel safe and are able to go about their daily business.

“I would continue to ask for anyone who has information about where weapons are being stored or who is using them or anyone who has information about drug dealing in their neighbourhood to contact us so we can take positive action.”
