UPDATE: Appeal for witnesses following incident outside takeaway in Liscard village, Wallasey

**UPDATE - 2.45PM THURSDAY 8TH AUGUST**

We can confirm that the 53 year-old man injured during an incident in Liscard Village, Wallasey, on Thursday 1st August has passed away.

Patrick Michael O’Quigley, also known as Michael, who is from the Wirral area, passed away in hospital on Monday 5th August.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by special trained officers.

The 34 year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault had been further arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and has been bailed as enquiries continue.

We are also continuing to appeal for anyone in Liscard Village in the early hours of Thursday 1st August, or who believes they may have witnessed something or has any information which could assist the investigation to contact us either by DM @MerPolCC, calling 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 19100421363.

We are appealing for witnesses following reports of an assault outside a takeaway in Wirral in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 1st August.

At 12.45am we received a report that a 53 year-old man had been assaulted outside Kebab House in Liscard Village, Wallasey.

The man has been taken to hospital with a head injury. His condition is currently described as critical but stable.

A 34 year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of s20 assault and remains in custody.

An investigation is underway and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
