We have arrested two people on suspicion of driving offences following an incident in Norris Green last night, Thursday 15 August.
At around 10.15pm, emergency services were called to Townsend Avenue to reports of a collision between a Ford Kuga and a Peugeot private hire taxi. The taxi driver and four passengers received minor injuries.
The occupants of the Ford Kuga initially left the scene of the collision with young children but returned and were detained.
A 44-year-old man from Norris Green was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and driving without a licence
A 32-year-old woman from Walton was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and drug driving
Both have been taken to police stations for questioning. The children have subsequently been located and were taken to hospital as a precaution. Safeguarding measures are ongoing.
