Two people have been arrested and taken to custody following a large scale fight in Liverpool this morning (2nd September).
Armed officers were called at around 5:40am to reports that a 16 year old boy, armed with a knife, was involved in a fight with a number of other people outside Fusion Bar, Fleet Street, Liverpool.
The 16 year old was located and stop checked, where he was found in possession of a ‘Zombie’ style knife (pictured). He was arrested on suspicion of Affray and Possession of an Offensive Weapon. An 18 year old man was also arrested on suspicion of Affray and both were taken to custody for further questioning.
Inspector Chris Ruane said “Thankfully no one was seriously injured during this incident but it is extremely alarming for any person, particularly a 16 year old, to be carrying such a dangerous weapon.
“We need to work with our communities, including parents, siblings and friends as well as partners including schools and social/community groups to educate young people of the dangers of carrying or using these weapons.
“Knives should not be seen as a form of ‘protection’, those in possession of these weapons are more likely to be subject to harm as well as face severe penalties. There is simply no need or excuse.”
