Police Dog Malik assists traffic police in arrest of a man following pursuit in Wirral

Officers from our traffic and dogs units have arrested a man following the sighting of a stolen car in Wirral yesterday, Tuesday 16 April. 

At around 8.55am, officers sighted a suspected stolen Vauxhall Zafira on the A41 in Eastham. Following a pursuit the car collided with a number of parked vehicles on Raffles Road in Tranmere, causing damage but no injuries. 

A man ran off on foot and was detained in an alleyway with the assistance of PD Malik.

A 31-year-old man from Oxton was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and drug driving. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

The car was believed to have been stolen from the Great Sutton area of Ellesmere Port, Cheshire earlier that morning.
