Emergency services attend arson in Liverpool city centre

Emergency services attended Hatton Garden in Liverpool city centre today (Sunday 4 August) after concerns for the safety of a 13-year-old girl.

Officers attended following a report that girl, who was inside a premises on the street, was threating to harm herself just before 2.30pm.

It was further reported that a fire had been started, and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended. The building was evacuated as a precaution, and the fire has been extinguished.

There are no reports of anyone being injured or harmed by the fire.

Hatton Garden was closed to allow the incident to be dealt with.

A 13-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of arson and taken to a police station.
