Appeal after ATM cash burglary in Childwall

News   •   Aug 01, 2019 11:15 BST

We are appealing for information after cash was stolen from an ATM at a shop in Childwall last night (Wednesday 31 July).

A report was received that the Co-op on Bentham Drive had been targeted by thieves at around 11.35pm.

It is believed a silver Nissan X-Trail Sport car was used to gain entry to the premises, with damage caused to the shutters and door. The three male offenders then damaged the ATM before taking cash from it.

The offenders were wearing black clothes and face coverings, and reportedly left the scene in a dark-coloured car in the direction of Woolton.

The Nissan X-Trail car was found abandoned nearby and is being forensically examined.

Officers attended and house-to-house and forensic enquiries have been carried out. CCTV opportunities are also being explored.

Detective Inspector Jennie Beck said: "Our investigation is in its early stages and while we are looking at CCTV footage and speaking to potential witnesses, we are also keen to hear from anyone else who saw or heard anything suspicious near the Co-op at around 11.35pm.

"We will act on all information provided, so tell us what you know and help us bring those responsible to justice."
