We are appealing for information following a firearms discharge in Wavertree this afternoon, Monday, 9 September.
At around 2.05pm, it was reported a motorbike was driven down Ash Vale before the rider, a male described as wearing dark clothing and a helmet, got off and fired shots at an address in the street. It is believed he then left on the motorbike.
Officers attended and carried out a search of the area. The front door of a house on Ash Vale had suffered damage, which is consistent with a firearms discharge.
House-to-house, CCTV and forensic enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
Detective Inspector Paul Nilsen, said: “The investigation is in its very early stages, however, we believe that the address was targeted. An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading up to this incident.
"The incident happened in a residential area in broad daylight and I am sure that a number of people may have heard, or witnessed suspicious behaviour or someone fitting the description of the male on the motorbike.
“Gun crime is simply unacceptable and will not be tolerated by Merseyside Police or our communities. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage members of the public to come forward with information so we can take action and bring those responsible to justice."
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any dashcam or CCTV footage from the area is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting ref. 470 of 9 September, or @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111.
