Appeal following robbery at Vauxhall bookmakers

We are appealing for information after a robbery at a bookmakers in Vauxhall yesterday (Sunday 14 July).

A report was received shortly before 11am that two men entered William Hill on Vauxhall Road and demanded cash.

They pushed a member of staff and made off with a quantity of cash. While she was not injured, the staff member was left extremely shaken.

The offenders were described as white with their faces covered.

One wore a dark grey hoodie, lighter grey tracksuit bottoms, white and grey trainers and red and black gloves. The second man was 5ft 8in tall and wore a black top, black trousers, black trainers, a black hat and black gloves.

They left the scene in a silver-coloured van, possibly a Citroen Berlingo.

Detective Inspector Phil Mahon said: "Thankfully no-one was seriously injured during this incident, but a member of staff has been left very shaken by her ordeal.

“We are determined to ensure that honest, hard-working people can go about their jobs and daily lives free from the fear that’s something like this might happen to them, and appeal to the public to help us bring those responsible to justice.”
