We are appealing for information after a man reported he was sexually assaulted by another man in Everton Park.
At around 8.50pm on Monday 22 April, the man reported he had gone into the park with a man at around 7pm on Sunday 21 April, where he alleged he was sexually assaulted by the man.
Officers attended a wooded area of the park where forensic investigations are continuing.
The man, although uninjured, has been left shaken following her ordeal.
Detective Inspector Sue Ennis said: "Our investigations into this incident are at an early stage. I would like to reassure the community that this type of incident is thankfully extremely rare and we are taking this report very seriously.
"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the offender and we're particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Everton Park, particularly around the entrance on Netherfield Road South opposite Everton Brow between 7pm on Sudnay and 8am on Monday.
"We are appealing for anyone with any information, however small it may seem, to get in touch with police."
